We support the development of solar energy, and have been actively involved in this field since 2008. SunMine, the first large solar plant in western Canada, is the result of our efforts.
SunMine was developed via a partnership composed of Teck Resources, the City of Kimberley and EcoSmart. It is the first large-scale solar project outside Ontario. The project won numerous awards.

We are currently managing the development of a 1.25 MegaWatt solar photovoltaic plant in the Chilcotin on the site of a former sawmill owned by the Tŝilhqot’in Nation Government (TNG). Once completed, the “Tŝilhqot’in Solar Initiative” (TŜI) will be the first large-scale solar power plant 100% owned and operated by a First Nation in Canada. It will be also the largest solar farm in western Canada.
