Former affiliation: Director of the CANMET Materials Technology Laboratory of Natural Resources Canada. Roy Sage holds an M.A.Sc in Geotechnical Engineering and a B.Sc. in Civil Engineering. He worked for the British consulting firm Ove Arup and Partners before joining CANMET in 1972. He retired from CANMET in 2005, having worked as a researcher and manager in rock mechanics, mining and alternative fuels. In 1995 he became Director of CANMET’s Materials Technology Laboratory, and in 2000 Director of the Mining and Mineral Sciences Laboratories. In this period, as well as directing these research laboratories, he also developed and managed the federal government’s climate change programs in minerals and metals.
